Geography well represented in MUNdays Spirit Parade
On October 17th the Memorial University Geographical Society (MUGS) participated in the annual spirit parade as part of MUNdays. The parade is intended to showcase pride for the university and individual departments/organizations. MUGS has not participated in the event in recent years but that has changed under the new executive. Several professors also came out to show their support for MUGS. The spirit parade also allowed the society to showcase a new mascot: the Geography Gorilla (a.k.a. the MUGS monkey).
Although the society did not walk away with the top prize, all those in attendance enjoyed the celebrations and spirit. “Next year we’re going to pump it up” said Bonnie Bishop, third year VP internal, “we’ll be bigger and better.” As the Geography department continues to grow, so too will the society’s spirit. The department would like to extend their congratulations to the PSA on their awesome demonstration of spirit and award.
