Remote Sensing
A particular focus is past and present altitudinal and latitudinal limits of tree species. Building on three-years of field data from Memorial University’s long-term study site in the Mealy Mountains, we are developing methods to expand our research and monitoring to other highland areas in central Labrador. These methods combine a review of information on past tree-line and forest disturbance, gleaned from archival reports and maps, with new mapping of present and recent forest extent in highland areas using remote sensing methods.
