Marine Institute's Oceans Conference in Iqaluit, Nunavut

In 2011, the Marine Institute, in partnership with the Nunavut Research Institute, brought Canada's premiere oceans conference-Oceans Innovation- to Iqaluit, Nunavut. Among the many speakers were Inuit leader Dr. Sheila Watt-Cloutier and Nunavut Premier Eva Aariak.

At the same time, the Marine Institute Ocean Net held its 13th annual Youth and the Oceans Conference at the Inuksuk High School in Iqaluit on Tuesday, October 18, 2011. This conference celebrated the opportunities for youth to make lasting meaningful changes in the sustainability of ocean environmental activity.

The event welcomed over 300 high school students and teachers in a day-long series of thought-provoking presentations, interactive discussions, and exciting events.
