Post Doctoral Training Program in Clinical Biochemistry Admission Requirements

1. Applicants must have educational qualifications in chemistry or the biological sciences (eg, Biology, Biochemistry, Immunology, Nutrition, Pharmacology, Physiology, Health Sciences Medicine) equivalent to a Ph.D. or M.D. Degree from a university belonging to the Association of Universities and Colleges of Canada or from an equivalent institution in the US.
   
   
2. Candidates who obtained their degrees from an institution outside of the US or Canada course-by-course credential evaluation must be submitted from the credential evaluation agency listed on the Government of Canada Citizenship and Immigration website directly to the office.
   
   
3. Proof of Language Proficiency: Candidates who completed their Ph.D. or MD studies in a country whose first language is not English are required to demonstrate proficiency in English by taking IELTS Academic or TOEFL- IBT
1. IELTS Academic: Document must be valid (not expired) until the program starts. Minimum score: 7.0 in each of the components
2. TOEFL- IBT Document validity (not expired) up to the program start date Minimum score: 23 in each component.
   
   
4. A minimum of B+ in relevant courses and an overall average during graduate studies are required.
   
   
5. A third-year level course in physiology or equivalent is preferred.
   
   
6. Experience in data analytics and R or Python coding knowledge is preferred.
   
   
7. A strong background in chemistry and biochemistry is required. - Satisfactorily completed 30 semester hours (or equivalent) in undergraduate or graduate-level chemistry or biochemistry courses is preferred.
   
   
8. Strong leadership, research, and educational background experience in laboratory medicine is an asset.
   
   
9. Documents must be submitted by the candidate by March 15th, 2024.

4. Official transcripts (BSc, MSc. Ph.D., M.D). (will be sent to the office from the issuing institution or credential evaluation agency)
5. If a candidate has not yet completed a Ph.D., a letter from the primary supervisor indicates that they will receive their degree before the Postdoctoral Training Program in Clinical Chemistry starts.
6. Proof of Canadian citizenship or permanent residency status
   
   
10. The candidate will be required to sign a return of service agreement with the NL provincial government to practice as a Clinical Biochemist in the province for three years after being certified by the CACB.
