Proof of English proficiency is required for admission to Memorial University. These requirements are outlined in the university Calendar.
Applicants who do not meet the minimum English proficiency requirements can apply to join Memorial University's English as a Second Language (ESL) program which is called the Intensive English Program (IEP).
Memorial's IEP classes are small (no more than 18 students per class) and are taught by highly-qualified instructors. This allows for a great deal of interaction with the instructor and other students. All IEP students can use the university facilities, including the library, student centre, computer facilities and recreation complex.
