WHAT CAN YOU DO WITH YOUR UNWANTED BOOKS?
Drop by the Memorial University Bookstore on the second floor of the University Centre (UC) or call 864-7440 and ask about the Buyback Program.
Buyback is a bookstore-sponsored program that takes place at the beginning and end of each term in an effort to recycle titles that will be used again in the future. Memorial University Bookstore works with MBS Textbook Exchange Inc., an industry leader in textbook management and delivery, to provide this service to MUN students.
Buyback is a triple-win situation where current students get cash for selling their books, bookstores get in-demand used titles to put on their shelves, and future students are offered money-saving used editions next term. Buying and selling used books benefits everyone involved by cutting costs and reducing the environmental strain of additional textbook printing.
Buyback services are offering at the beginning of the fall and winter semesters each year (during the first week of classes in September and in January); and at the end of the fall and winter semesters each year (usually during final exams). Posters and handouts are distributed before and during each buyback period with detailed information about dates and times of operation.
Or look for the big green recycling drop box from Better World Books
Better World Books is a company that both buys and sells used books and also collects unwanted books to help fund literacy initiatives locally, nationally and around the world. All donations are processed for sale, donation or recycled. Every effort is made to ensure all books get the best new home possible. Each book contributes to global literacy initiatives and protecting the environment.
Better World Books provides bookstores, libraries, schools and other organizations with large green Recycling Drop Boxes in which to collect used textbooks from students/patrons. Memorial University Bookstore offers this service in conjunction with the buyback programs each semester as a convenience for students who cannot sell their used textbooks. Just look for the big green box and dump them in!
If the books you want to donate are not textbooks, look for places to donate them locally such as the SPCA Thrift Store, 162 Park Avenue, Mount Pearl, NL.
