Beverage Container Recycling

WHAT CAN I RECYCLE?

  • aluminum cans - soft drinks, beer, juice, other drinks
  • drink boxes and gable-top containers - juice, milkshakes
  • plastic and glass bottles - soft drinks, water, juice, flavoured drinks, liquor, imported beer
  • steel cans - juice

Please note: milk containers, paper and styrofoam cups, yogurt containers, glass jars or beer bottles are not recyclable on campus.

DO I NEED TO PREPARE MY RECYCLABLES?

It's simple:

  • empty container
  • remove caps, straws and garbage
  • do not crush

WHERE DO I BRING MY RECYCLABLES?

In every building, on every floor, there are beige recycling bins with brown lids.  These bins are usually located next to a garbage can.  Or, you can bring them to one of the  blue recycling units that have a specific slot marked for beverage containers.

WHAT HAPPENS TO THE RECYCLABLES AND THE REFUNDS?

Ever Green Recycling (www.greencan.ca) picks up the beverage  containers for sorting and processing.  Funds collected through recycling are divided between Ever Green Recycling and Facilities Management which in turn makes a donation to the Campus Food Bank.
