Electronic Student Statements
E-communications keep everyone on the same page – with no paper!
Beginning this spring (2010), Financial and Administrative Services will no longer mail students a printed statement of their account balance as a reminder to pay their tuition. The account information has always been available online through Student Self Service at www.mun.ca
, but a statement would also be mailed as a payment reminder. Instead of producing a printed statement, students will now be sent an e-mail to their official Memorial e-mail account informing them of their outstanding balance and reminding them of the payment deadline. The student can then log on to Student Self Service, check the details of their balance and make a payment if necessary.
By making the change, Financial and Administrative Services will eliminate a total of 28,000 printed statements per year and save on paper, time, printing and postage. The projected cost savings, in addition to the environmental benefits, is expected to be more than $18,000 annually.
