MUN Residence Energy Challenge 2018
You Hold the Power!
The Residence Energy Challenge is a two week competition for students living in residence to increase awareness about energy conservation and climate change. From January 26 to February 9, 2018, residents of Burton's Pond, Macpherson College and Paton College are taking part in a competition to reduce energy use and participate in energy conservation awareness activities. Energy Challenge Prizes
Prizes will be awarded in two categories for residences and one individual category:
- overall energy conservation: the residence which reduces its energy use the most over the two week period, compared to its normal use, will win a prize valued at approximately $1000 donated by Honeywell
- house participation in activities: the winner of the house participation component, including a video submission, will receive a $200 catering coupon from Aramark
- individual participation: students (must live in Paton College, Macpherson College or Burton’s Pond) can complete the Selfie Challenge to enter to win an iPad donated by takeChargeNL.
As part of Winter Carnival, energy use will be measured from Feb. 2 to 8, and the three residences who conserve the most will receive points. There is also a video competition during Winter Carnival. Check out the Winter Carnival Rule Book for details.
Photos of activities can be posted or sent to the Memorial University Sustainability Office facebook page or emailed to firstname.lastname@example.org. Video submissions should be submitted on facebook. In order for a residence to get credit for photos and other submissions, the residence must be identified. Photos and videos will be reviewed by the Sustainability Office for appropriate content prior to posting. By submitting a photo or video, it is understood that participants have given permission for submission to be used by Memorial and/or posted publicly.
