The purpose of this event was
to assist individuals of South Epi to construct a water system for
their community. There were also many smaller goals that included
heath promotion, education, first aid, HIV awareness and business
management skills. Some of the highlights of the event were
learning to speak an entirely new language, making “lap
lap” with the momma’s of the group, creating community
social nights where dancing and singing took place, and also
gathering 120 people in a field to educate them about living
healthier lives. It allowed to teach the girls of STI’s and
to teach families that it was unsanitary to be living in a home
with chickens. Stephanie got a chance to make amazing contributions
to the health and health promotion of several villages. She was
able to learn the difference a very small amount of education can
make to a knowledge deprived community.
