Testimonials
The purpose of this event was for ACE (SIFE) Memorial to represent Canada at the 2008 Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) World Cup. After winning the Advancing Canadian Entrepreneurship (ACE) National Competition, ACE Memorial won the right to represent Canada, at SIFE Canada, and compete against 41 other national champion teams from around the world.
The event consisted of three
rounds of competition, each judged by 15-30 business leaders and
CEO’s from some of the top companies in the world. In each
round of competition each team completed a 24 minute presentation,
followed by a 5 minute question and answer period on the community
outreach projects they completed over the past year. Each team was
judged on how well they created economic opportunity in their
community.
The event was a huge benefit to
ACE/SIFE Memorial. It provided each student with an opportunity to
network with other SIFE teams from around the world. Through such
networking opportunities they were able to expand their projects
internationally, through the global SIFE network, and were able to
learn from other SIFE teams and develop new ideas and initiatives
to roll out in Newfoundland and Labrador and across Canada. The
SIFE World Cup also enabled the team to represent Memorial
University with pride on the world stage. The main highlight of the event is the fact that ACE/SIFE Memorial won the 2008 SIFE World Cup, being named the most enterprising team in Canada.
