Fast-A-Thon"This event was held to raise awareness among the MUN community of fasting in Islam by encouraging them to fast a day with Muslims from dawn to sunset in the month of Ramadan. This event also aimed at raising awareness of Islam in general and provided an avenue for the MUN community to better understand the religion. At around 7:30 Maghrib (sunset), prayers were held and were followed by a Middle Eastern dish. Dr.Haddara, the Muslim Association of Newfoundland and Labrador (MANAL) president, gave a short speech of fasting for Ramada and answered any questions made by participants. The event increased exposure of the Muslims Students’ Association to the MUN Community and helped in achieving its goal of raising awareness of Islam and why Muslim’s fast."
