Atlantic Universities Geological Conference

This is a student organized, fundraised and managed event. It creates a forum for students from six Atlantic Universities, offering programs in Earth Sciences, to meet and mingle with one another as well with people from the industry. Several students from each university present their honours research to date and prizes are awarded to the best papers. Inspirational talks are given and connections are made with prominent geological groups from across Canada. Some of the highlights from this event were the educational fieldtrips on the geology of New Brunswick and the awards banquet in which one of the Memorial student presenters received an award. Memorial University had the strongest showing of students from any of the six universities present, and through networking a CSEG challenge bowl was arranged, which will take place in the winter and allow a chance for Atlantic Universities to visit Memorial.
