Conference: Summer Organic Chemistry Conference on Everybody’s Research (SOCCER)
SOCCER provided organic chemistry students with increased experience in preparing for and participating in formal conferences. It was intended to promote departmental spirit and collegiality, heightened awareness of another’s research project and foster the invitation of new collaborations.
One of the highlights of the event was a lecture given by Professor Cathleen Crudden of Queen’s University entitled “Catalysis and Chirality in Molecules and Materials”.
SOCCER gave students a chance to present their research and to see what other research is occurring in the department. It gave students a chance to meet contacts and potential supervisors.
