Testimonials

The first symposium
was held last summer and involved participants from the Departments
of Chemistry and Physics only. This year, the organizers sought to
make the event truly multi-disciplinary and requested the Office of
the Dean of Science and the Head’s of Department within the
Faculty of Science to promote the event to their undergraduate
researchers and to provide modest funding for this event. Research
assistants from every department in the Faculty of Science were
invited to present their summer research at the Second Annual
Summer Student Symposium. In total, there were 43 posters presented
from almost every department in the

faculty and over 150
people attended this event. Judging of the posters was conducted by
13 volunteers including members of Faculty, instructors, local high
school science teachers, graduate students and post-doctoral
fellows. Eleven prizes of cash and an NSERC gift were awarded. In
addition, six “Honorable Mention” NSERC gift prizes
were also awarded.
