The Muse is apart of a national organization called Canadian University Press (CUP). CUP’s national conference serves two purposes: a training event, and an annual general meeting. While there, Sheena Goodyear from The Muse participated in training sessions with successful reporters, designers, and photographers. Also there were key note speeches from ’s top journalists, and they made important decisions regarding CUP policy.
Sheena believes this event was beneficial to her and maybe other MUN student’s in the future because MUN doesn’t have a journalism program. These conferences in combination with what she has learned on the job at The Muse serve as career training.
While Sheena was at this conference in January she ran for the Canadian University Press National Bureau Chief, and she got it. She will not be moving to Toronto in the summer to work in the CUP’s national office.
