1. What is Winter Orientation? Winter Orientation is a one-day event designed to help new students become familiar with their campus. It's a fun, interactive and informative event which strives to help students meet new people, find out about Memorial's many services and moreover get engaged in Memorial's community.
2. Who is it for? Orientation is for any student attending their first semester at Memorial.
3. When is Orientation? Winter Orientation 2013 takes place on Sunday, January 6th, 2013.
4. How do I register for Orientation? Students must register for orientation online through Memorial Self-Service. This can be done as the same time as registering for Winteer 2013 courses. More information will be emailed to you in the coming weeks!
5. What should I bring with me to Orientation? Check back for a page on what you should bring.
6. What events are offered at Orientation? Orientation is packed with many different events that will help you get prepared for your first day of classes. Check back for a complete schedule!
7. How do I know where to go? Winter Orientation begins in the Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation (INCO building). Please refer to this campus map http://www.mun.ca/campus_map/stjohns/and make your way to the INCO building and we'll direct you from there!
8. I live in residence; can I still join in orientation activities? Yes! You can attend both Residence Orientation and University Orientation. When you arrive on campus, ask your House President or Resident Assistant for more information.
10. Is Attendance mandatory? Attendance is not mandatory however you are strongly encouraged to attend Orientation in order to form connections and take advantage of the many services that are offered to you during these two days.
11. Can I leave and come back after my Math Placement Test (MPT)? Yes. Keep your Orientation schedule on hand and check it for the time of your next event and come back with lots of spirit!
12. If I have to leave for a part of Orientation am I allowed to return? Yes! Chat to one of the volunteers to make sure that you know where the group is when you come back.
13. Is there a cost? No. Orientation is free for all first year students to attend.
14. Can I pay my tuition during Orientation? On January 7th the Cashier's office will be closed. However, you can pay for your courses the following day when classes begin again.
15. Can I get my MUN student ID at Orientation? Yes! You will have the oportunity to get a student ID between 2:45pm and 4:30pm If you miss this opportunity, drop by Answers at UC-3005 between 8:30am and 4:30pm during December! Or get your campus card after Orientation.
16. Do I have to be 19 years or older to attend any Orientation events? No. Orientation at Memorial is open to all new students.
17. Is parking free during Orientation? There are many places around campus to park if you are driving to Orientation. Upon arrival to Orientation look out for signs directing you where to park.
19. Can parents attend Orientation? Because of the smaller group for Winter Orientation, we do not have a Parents Orientation for the Winter semester.
20. Who organizes Orientation? Orientation is a program designed and delivered by Answers, a division of Student Affairs and Services for any student attending their first term at Memorial.
