BSW as a Second Degree

Please note that the commencement date for the BSW AS A SECOND DEGREE PROGRAM as outlined in the 2010/2011 MUN Calendar has changed from the spring semester to the winter semester. The deadline for application for admission to this program remains the same (March 1). Please be advised that all admissions criteria must be met by the end of the winter semester in which you submit your application.

The 60 credit hour program is intended for candidates who:

  • have been awarded a Bachelor’s Degree, or have been approved (prior to program start-up) for the award of a Bachelor’s Degree from a university recognized by Memorial;
  • have completed the required courses;
  • meet the academic performance requirements; and
  • have extensive employment and/or formal volunteer experience.

Priority is given to applicants who are bona fide residents of the province of Newfoundland and Labrador.

The BSW as a second degree program is completed over four (4) consecutive semesters, beginning in the winter semester, on the St. John's campus.

The first two (2) semesters include course work only, while the remaining two (2) semesters include field internships and course work. The field internships normally include one rural and one urban setting.
