Dr. Raymond Neckoway
Dr. Raymond Neckoway is an Assistant Professor with
the School of Social Work. Raymond’s research focus has been on the implementation of attachment theory in child welfare practice with Aboriginal Peoples, particularly with the Ojibway and Cree. Research interests have extended into the role of culture in parenting, parenting, child development, and child welfare. Prior to his academic appointments, Raymond worked in a multi-service Aboriginal agency, initially providing family counselling services for parents with children in care, then as a supervisor in a child welfare unit.
Raymond grew up in northern Manitoba and has worked over the years in several First Nations communities both in the fields of family counselling and child welfare.
