Supervising and advising

Supervising & Advising: Scholars in Memorial University's PhD in social work have a variety of faculty resources available to them. When you are accepted to a PhD program in social work at Memorial University, you will be assigned a program advisor.

Selection of a research supervisor, who agrees to supervise your work and with whom you can work effectively, is one of the most important decisions you will make during your PhD program.

Your research supervisor will work with you to identify a supervisory committee (as per School of Social Work protocol) who can support you in your thesis research.

You will also work with various faculty in their roles as course instructors, as tutors in individualized courses, and as mentors in internships. Our program relies on external faculty resources from throughout North America, some of whom are appointed as adjunct professors.

Graduate Student Supervision: This section of the MUN calendar details the regulations and information needed by graduate students and those involved in their advising and supervision.
