Derek Chechak is a Registered Social Worker based in London, Ontario. He has been practicing since 2008, and is a three-time graduate of Western University having earned his BA (Psychology), Bachelor of Social Work (Hons), and Master of Social Work between 2004 and 2009. He is presently employed with a regional mental health care provider as a member of an interdisciplinary assertive community treatment team for clients with serious and persistent mental illnesses.
His research interests are primarily based on the principles of occupational social work, and emphasize employee wellness, characteristics of perpetually psychologically distressing workplaces, and professional dissonance among social work professionals. His doctoral research aims to develop a predictive, risk assessment model of occupational dissatisfaction among social workers based on dissonant job practices and workplaces characteristics.
