Work Experience in Social Enterprise – Part-time opportunity for MUN student
Organization: Fishing for Success
Fishing for Success is a nonprofit social enterprise dedicated to living, sharing, and celebrating the traditional fishing knowledge and culture that sustained generations of Newfoundlanders and Labradorians.
One day every child in Newfoundland and Labrador will once again be taught the traditional fishing knowledge and skill of their ancestors; that this will instill in them a sense of pride, of place, and a longing to protect and conserve their natural home.
We seek a student who is a motivated self-starter who can work independently as well as with the team. Fall in love with our project and pitch a project to us! We have so many things on the go we’ll co-design a project around this part-time placement. For example, we could use your help with:
- Product development, especially those involving sustainable use of all the fish
- Event planning
- Website design
We are really about finding folks who want to make a place for themselves with us! We’ll provide the space and supervision. Bring your ideas and energy to strengthen our social enterprise!
The ideal candidates should:
• Be a senior students at the Faculty of Business Administration
• Motivated to learn about & gain work experience within a non-profit environment
• Possess strong interpersonal skills
• Effective communication skills, orally and written
• Excellent organizational skills
• Ability to multi-task in a fast paced environment
The position will also be supported by the Centre for Social Enterprise at Memorial University. The Centre aims to provide students with opportunities for personal growth and career discovery through work placements. Students will be invited to an orientation and debrief to reflect on their experiences on their social enterprise work placement.
