Dean's Doctoral Award

This award is a $5000 per year Fellowship for up to four years and is open to prospective PhD students within Arts and Sciences disciplines. Applications to Memorial will be automatically considered for this award through a competitive process. Selection is based upon the following criteria:

  • Academic Excellence, as demonstrated by past academic results and by transcripts, awards and distinctions. A minimum average of 85% is required as calculated using the applicant's last twenty credit courses. A combination of masters and undergraduate marks will be used in the calculation.
  • Research potential, as outlined in the applicant's research history, proposed research program, and contribution to the advancement of knowledge in the field, potential benefit to the province of Newfoundland & Labrador, and any anticipated outcomes.
  • Personal Achievements, as related to activities which include, but are not limited to, teaching/supervisory experience; involvement in committees, teams or projects; roles in professional societies or conferences; community involvement in charity or not-for-profit organizations or other community work.
