The Dr. Leslie Harris Memorial University Alumni Association Scholarship

Memorial University of Newfoundland and its Alumni Association have established these scholarships to honor former University President, Dr. Leslie Harris, and to recognize excellence of our students. Several scholarships, valued at a minimum of $16,000.00 ($4,000.00 annually for up to 4 years) will be awarded annually and may be renewed if first class and scholarship standing are maintained. These scholarships are tenable in all undergraduate programs at the University and will be awarded by the Senate Committee on Undergraduate Scholarships and Financial Aid.

What the scholarship meant to her: Recieving the Dr. Leslie Harris Memorial University Alumni Association Scholarship has been an honour. The award has given me a strong feeling of achievement and pride, knowing that my hard work in high school has been recognized. In addition, it has motivated me to continue to work to the best of my ability. I would like to thank the Scholarship Committee at Memorial for giving me this wonderful opportunity.

What the scholarship meant to her: Recieving the Dr. Leslie Harris Scholarship has been an honour, recognizing my hard work and commitment to academic success, extracurricular and volunteer activities throughout my highschool years. It provides the boost of confidence needed when beginning my studies at Memorial University and also the motivation to continue to strive for success at the university level. The financial benefits I will receive from this award will go a long way in reducing the debt I will have on completion of my degree. I would like to express my gratitude to Memorial University and the Alumni Association for this award.

What the scholarship meant to her: It enabled me to broaden my plans for myself. I realized that I am being supported by a caring team at Memorial and that my education is going to make a difference. It was like a vote of confidence from the University that has allowed me to push away from financial worry so that I may more fully recognize what I want to do with my life - and enjot the experience.

What the scholarship meant to him: This award has made it possible to pursue my ambitions without financial restrictions. The award acknowledges the importance of performing well academically and offers incentive for myself to continue to perform well.

What the scholarship meant to her: Receiving this award was a great honour for me because it meant that all my hard work and dedication throughout high school had paid off. Also, it was nice to be recognized by the University for my academic achievements. This award will certainly prove to be beneficial in helping me pursue my education at Memorial.
