Researcher Responsibilities
Note that as the Principal Researcher, you are responsible for understanding and adhering to the TCPS 2 and other relevant guidelines, including Memorial University’s Policy on Ethics of Research Involving Human Participants, and relevant legislation.
The Principal Researcher is also responsible for the compliance of the project’s research assistants and staff with the TCPS 2. As Principal Researcher, not only must you implement the policies for ethical research outlined in the TCPS 2, but you are also required to provide evidence that you have done so.
The ICEHR’s responsibility is to ensure that your research meets the ethical standards set out in the TCPS 2, and that you have provided adequate documentation to this effect. This is accomplished through the process of ethics review. Therefore, your efforts to provide evidence that you are in compliance with the TCPS 2, will facilitate the review of your submission.
