NSERC Discovery Frontiers – Call for Proposals
Deadline: December 10, 2010 (Letter of Intent)
NSERC has launched the NSERC Frontiers Initiatives, which will address national research priorities and global challenges by supporting a small number of major new transformative and integrative initiatives. NSERC Frontiers includes a discovery research component (Discovery Frontiers) and a university-industry partnership component (Innovation Frontiers).
The initial Discovery Frontiers call for proposals is focused on Northern Earth System Research. NSERC is soliciting collaborative research proposals from teams of NSERC-eligible researchers with recognized expertise in their current fields. They will work in an integrated manner to tackle broad problems defined with input of the northern community, aimed at identifying and understanding the interrelationships that exist in northern earth systems, and to research solutions-based approaches to climate change adaptation.
One grant will be awarded as a result of this call, valued at a maximum of $4 million over four years. This Discovery Frontiers grant is expected to unite northern researchers in new ways and incorporate new and emerging ideas from scientists with different, complementary expertise who are not necessarily currently working in the north.
More information, including the submission deadline for the Letters of Intent to Apply, is available on NSERC's Web site.
