Phase One

Current Research Capabilities and Preliminary Assessment of Opportunities and Needs

Phase One of the Research Plan development process begins with a detailed questionnaire which is designed to help develop an overview of Memorial’s research strengths, needs, and opportunities.

This questionnaire was sent to Memorial's deans and directors on Nov. 10.

The dean or director of each faculty, school, centre or institute (hereinafter referred to as unit) have been asked to complete the document.

The goal is collect qualitative information, not necessarily quantitative.

To ensure this overview provides as rich a picture as possible, deans and directors have been asked to provide context wherever possible about particular strengths, needs and opportunities – i.e. describe what their unit has, benefits from, and requires. Their responses should be based on information that is currently available.

Please refer to the Research Plan Process Document to see the background and context for the Research Plan, and to see the six phases we have constructed to approach development of the plan.

This will be an iterative process throughout.

If you have questions or comments on the process, please contact Dr. Rob Greenwood via e-mail or by calling 864-6170, or Kate Reid-Shute via e-mail.

Questions asked will be answered and posted to this website so a common understanding of the process will be maintained as much as possible.
