CFI LOF Expressions of Interest
The Office of Collaborations and Partnerships is accepting Expressions of Interest (EOI) for the October 15 Canada Foundation for Innovation (CFI) Leaders Opportunity Fund (LOF) Competition. The deadline for receipt of EOIs is June 17, 2011.
Eligible applicants must be recognized leaders in their field of research or show promise of becoming research leaders. They must be engaged in, or embarking on, an innovative research program for which the infrastructure is essential and which will provide an enriched research training environment.
Canada Research Chair renewal applicants intending to apply to the Canada Research Chair deadlines in October 2011 or April 2012 who plan to include a request for infrastructure funding as part of the Chair renewal must submit an EOI for the June 17 deadline.
The maximum CFI request for these applications is 40% of total project costs up to a maximum of $100K with a maximum total project cost of $250K. The remaining 60% may be a combination of RDC IRIF Leverage funds up to a maximum of 50% of total project costs, vendor in-kind contributions and/or any combination of other available matching funding. Where there is a demonstrated need to share infrastructure, small groups of up to three faculty members may consider submitting a joint proposal.
Expressions of interest should be 3 – 4 pages in length and provide the following information:
1.CV
2.Need for infrastructure
3.Budget including potential leverage/match funding sources
4.Potential for graduate training and collaborative usage
EOIs must be received by the Office of Collaborations and Partnerships, Room IIC1001, Bruneau Centre for Research and Innovation, no later than 4:00 p.m. on June 17, 2011 accompanied by the EOI Approval Form.
Expressions of interest will be reviewed by an internal Advisory Committee. Researchers whose expression of interest is chosen to proceed with an application to the CFI LOF competition will be notified by June 30, 2011.
The internal deadline for subsequent submission of completed CFI LOF applications to the Office of Collaborations and Partnerships is October 7, 2011; however, individuals are strongly encouraged to engage the Office of Collaborations and Partnerships in advance for review and assistance in completion of the application. Note that only successful EOIs may apply to the CFI LOF October 15 deadline.
