Dr. Joerg Evermann
The Faculty of Business Administration’s newest professor comes from Germany by way of New Zealand. Dr. Joerg Evermann is the newest faculty member to be hired as the Faculty of Business continues to build research capability and teaching support for the new PhD in management program.
The strong support for research, coupled with the opportunity to teach were a big part of the reason Dr. Evermann moved half-way around the world. “Being a part of the new PhD program was very appealing to me. It’s an exciting time and there is generous support for researchers,” he said.
Dr. Evermann’s research interest lies in knowledge representation in computer systems. As he explained, “I’m interested in finding out if software becomes more user friendly if it follows the same principles that people actually use in their day-to-day lives.”
Before coming to Memorial Dr. Evermann worked at Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand. While there, he worked with researchers in psychology and computer science to look at his research from a cross-disciplinary perspective. He’s goal is to build similar relationships at Memorial.
