PROCEDURE FOR TEMPORARY ASSIGNMENTS

  

Temporary assignment requests should be forwarded, in writing, to the Department of Human Resources.

Upon receipt of a temporary assignment request the Department of Human Resources reviews the personal file of the temporary assigned employee to:

  1. assess the experience and qualifications of the individual
  2. determine whether the employee has been assigned previous temporary assignments

For bargaining unit employees eligibility for temporary assignments will also be verified in accordance with the applicable collective agreement.
If it is determined that the employee has the appropriate experience and qualifications for the higher band level position, the temporary assignment is approved and the employee is compensated based on the guidelines stated above.

If the employee does not meet the qualifications for the higher band level position, the Department of Human Resources will approve a partial temporary assignment in accordance with either the applicable collective agreement or the Handbook for Non-Bargaining Employees. If further information is required the Department of Human Resources will follow up with department.

Employees will be notified of the temporary assignment and the appropriate compensation in writing by the Department of Human Resources.
