- Office of Research Services internal deadlines for Comprehensive Review for these competitions are: noon, 10 working days before the sponsor deadline.
- Office of Research Services internal deadline for Institutional Review for these competitions are: noon, 3 working days before the sponsor deadline.
- When submitting an application for Institutional Review, be sure to include the appropriate Approval Form from your Department/Faculty with the application.
- Please notify a Grants Coordinator at the Office of Research Services of your intent to apply to the upcoming competition.

Shastri Lester Pearson Memorial Lecture - Deadline: November 15.
The Shastri Institute will contribute funding to one of our Canadian member institutions to host an Indian world renowned expert for a one-time event. The event will focus on a contemporary topic relevant to the Indo-Canadian relationship. The event should have a wide public appeal.
Number of award: 1
Indian Membership Development Fund - Deadline: November 15.
The program is designed to assist the Shastri Indian member institutions with the organization of events to support the promotion and expansion of Canadian Studies and related activities in their institutions. Activities such as Lecture Series, Workshop, Film Shows, Students' competition and important day celebrations are encouraged. Applications proposing for Collaborative events from two different funding agencies are also acceptable.
Value: Up to INR 25,000/per member institution
Number of grants: 6.
Lal Bahadur Shastri Student Prize (LBS) - Deadline: November 30.
The grant encourages graduate and undergraduate students to write papers on topics with specific relevance to India-Canada relations including environment, history, law, literature, international Trade, politics, philosophy, India-Canada economic development, social studies, humanities, science or women's studies.
Value: $500.00 each
Number of awards: 6, two for each category:
- Best Undergraduate Paper
- Best Graduate Paper
- Best French Paper
Kanta Marwah Lecture Series - Deadline: November 30.
The grant is offered to Shastri Canadian member institutions to host a distinguished speaker for a one-time event. The lecture should examine a current topic relevant to the Indo-Canadian relationship.
Value: $1, 500
Number of grants: 1
