Information from the Office of Research Services regarding the upcoming NSERC Grants Competitions

Are you submitting a RTI Grant requesting $150,000 - $250,000 (RTI-1)
NSERC will accept applications for equipment whose total net cost is up to $250,000, provided that the applicant has secured, at the time of application, the additional funding from other sources to bring the amount requested from NSERC to $150,000 or less. Applicants who require IRIF funding from the Research & Development Corporation (RDC) for their NSERC RTI application, should contact Pamela White or Joy Carew, Office of Collaborations and Partnerships, at pwhite@mun.ca 864-2598 or joybest@mun.ca 864-6891, by 5 p.m., Friday, October 5th, for consideration of secured funding to meet NSERC's deadline. Confirmation of secured funding must be provided to the Office of Research Services prior to electronic signoff by our office.

To interested researchers, please note:

  1. Office of Research Services internal deadline for Mandatory Institutional Review for competitions is 3 working days prior to NSERC's deadline. For the current NSERC Discovery Grant Competition (see: http://www.nserc-crsng.gc.ca/Professors-Professeurs/Grants-Subs/DGIGP-PSIGP_eng.asp), complete applications must be received by ORS by noon on Monday, October 29th. Complete applications include Faculty approvals and other required signatures. For more details see: http://www.mun.ca/research/overview/grant_opp.php
  2. Office of Research Services internal deadline for Comprehensive Review for grant applications is 10 working days prior to agency deadlines or as posted. The Office of Research Services has moved its internal deadline for Comprehensive Review to Monday, October 1st for review of Discovery applications (NOTE: To eliminate overlap of services, only one comprehensive review to be provided either by the Office of Research Services or the Grants Facilitator/Research/Grants Officer in your Faculty. The Office of Research Services will be consulting with the Grants Facilitator/Research/Grants Officers as applications are received in order to avoid duplication.
  3. When submitting an application for Mandatory Institutional Review, be sure to include the appropriate Approval Form from your Department/Faculty with the application.
  4. When submitting an application for Comprehensive Review, please submit a complete copy of your application, CV and attachments.
