Marine Public Education Program

 

 

The Ocean Sciences Centre (OSC) outdoor Summer Marine Education Program is open June 5, 2023 - September 4, 2023. The program runs from 10am to 5pm daily, 7-days a week, rain or shine! There is no admission cost but we do have a donation box available. 

The current public education program is a complimentary interactive and interpretive outdoors activity for tourists, school children and local visitors. Features of the program include an outdoor touch tank, where visitors can experience a never - ending variety of local marine life, and marine interpreters to answer questions and explain current research initiatives at the facility. 

*Booking are not required but we do ask that large summer camps and organizations schedule before taking their groups to the OSC to avoid overcrowding. Please email ocean@mun.ca

SEAL VISITORS PLATFORM IS CLOSED FOR THE SEASON

Since 1988 the Ocean Sciences Centre has organized and played a continuous role in public awareness in marine sciences through its Marine Public Education Program. Each summer we invite visitors of all ages to our outside touch tank and Seal Facility where student interpreters discuss research conducted at the OSC, marine mammal and sealing issues, and introduce the curious to a variety of native sea creatures.

There are no indoor tours of the Ocean Sciences Centre Facilities.
