November 2008 - For five fast track students in
the fall 2008, N3111 Nursing Care of Middle and Older Adults
course, this experience differed from contact with a human patient
only because it involved a human
patient simulation (HPS).
October 2008 - A 4th year student Nursing student, Melissa George, was profiled in the Student Wellness Newsletter recently, article entitled A Class of Her Own (pg 4)
October 2008 - Christopher Nolan, a recent Fast Track graduate has had his article, Do you See What Eye See? A transcultural Nursing experience to impoverished Mexico, published in the ARNNL Access (pg 15).
October 2008 - The theme of Nursing Research Day 2008 was Diversity in Nursing. Keynote speaker Dr. Kärin Olson, University of Alberta, spoke on Diversity in Nursing Research: An Invitation to Consider the Big Picture.
September 2008 - The 2008 Primary Care Researcher of the Year Award went the Community Health Assessment Team (CHAT) from Memorial University’s School of Nursing.
September 2008 - Second-year nursing student Jessica Hunt was one of the first to sign the Write For Hope banner hanging at the entrance to the School of Nursing. It’s part of a national Pink Pen campaign sponsored by Paper Mate to raise awareness of breast cancer and raise funds to support breast cancer research, education and awareness programs.
September 2008 - The accreditation report is in and Memorial’s Bachelor of Nursing (Collaborative) Program has once again received the best possible result – full seven-year accreditation. As well, the School of Nursing’s BN Post-RN program was accredited for seven years.
September 2008 - Staff members in the School of Nursing are making themselves more visible to students during orientation. They had T-shirts made that say, on front, “Have a question?
