Kelly
Russell’s record label,
Pigeon Inlet Productions (est. 1979), has released over 30
full length recordings. He is dedicated to reviving the art of
storytelling and recitation, inspired by his late father, Ted
Russell (creator of The Chronicles of Uncle Mose - Tales from
Pigeon Inlet). Recipient of numerous awards, including the
prestigious Marius Barbeau Award (1997) for his contribution to Canadian Folklore, Russell
has recently published two music books: Kelly Russell’s
Collection – The Fiddle Music of Newfoundland & Labrador
– Volumes 1 & 2.
He shares his expertise in Newfoundland music and culture with his many fiddle students, as well as visitors to the province by hosting entertainment events in Trinity with his wife Tonya Kearley.
