Bulla Timpánica (Spain)

Bulla Timpánica is a trio made up of musicians Alfonso Merino (fiddle), Alfonso Franco (fiddle) and Liz Josiño (bouzouki & requinta). Formed in 2005, Bulla Timpánica’s repertoire is based on traditional Galician music but also draws on the melodic influences of returning emigrants from and . Traditionally Galician tunes are accompanied by the bagpipe, but due to the acoustics of small spaces the group chooses to perform pieces that are better adapted to the fiddle.

These three Galician musicians perform and record together but also pursue personal endeavours that include teaching and conducting workshops at the Conservatory of Traditional Music of Vigo.
