Stan Pickett (Canada - NL)

Stan Pickett grew up playing the button accordion for square dances and listening to English folk songs in his native Fair Island, Bonavista Bay. He played guitar and sang in a country-pop band in the late 1960s and early 1970s, but since the early nineties he has focused on traditional music. Since then his repertoire has grown to include more English folk songs, along with Irish and Scottish traditional songs, jigs, reels, polkas, and airs. Stan is also gaining a reputation as a composer and has created several outstanding original jigs and reels. He is currently a member of THE AUNTIE CRAE BAND and THE PICKETT LINE, and performs regularly, for Newfoundland & Labrador Folk Arts Council events, at conventions and receptions, folk festivals, and private events.
