Bridget O'Connell (Ireland)
Bridget
O’Connell is a
lecturer of Irish Music and fiddle teacher at Waterford Institute
of Technology. She is presently writing a PhD thesis on
Newfoundland fiddle styles. In the consecutive summers of 2006 and
2007, she spent three months carrying out both intensive fieldwork
and archival research in Newfoundland. Bridget completed an
undergraduate music degree from Waterford Institute of Technology
and completed a performance masters on the fiddle at the University
of Limerick. She performs and teaches regularly in the Waterford
area and is presently recording her first solo album featuring
music from both and Newfoundland. She is a recipient of Ireland
Newfoundland Partnership Scholarships in both 2006 and
2007.
