Overtime for Concert Assistant

Date: August 5, 2002

TO: Faculty Members, School of Music

FROM: Mark Penney, Executive Assistant

On occasion, Richard’s services are called upon by faculty members to assist them with a number of technical/computer-oriented tasks. While he is always eager to help out, these tasks can often be very time consuming and, in order to complete them, Richard is required to work overtime. Because of this, we have developed the following guidelines to assist in minimizing the amount of overtime worked by Richard.

Any work a faculty member requires to be performed by Richard should be planned and scheduled with sufficient advance notice.

Any overtime or work outside normal office hours requested from Richard must be approved by myself or the Director. This includes both rush jobs which would necessitate immediate overtime, as well as work which by its nature takes place outside the 9 to 5 business hours.

Richard’s regular duties should not suffer as a result of last minute requests made by faculty.

By giving Richard ample notice of any special requests faculty members may have of him, we should be able to reduce the need for overtime.
