Friends of the School
The School of Music is one of the University’s most visible and effective links to the people of Newfoundland and Labrador. Not only is the School itself a significant cultural resource for the region through its facilities and public programming, but the School’s graduates are themselves the musical leaders in communities throughout the province, the country, and indeed the world.
The School of Music has a long history of support from the Newfoundland and Labrador community. With that foundation we built the M. O. Morgan building, where the School is still housed today. The support that the School enjoys from the community is important and encouraging and, in recent years, significant fiscal support has come from friends of music who have been excited by the opportunities to make meaningful contributions to the exceptional activity of the School. These contributions have ranged from the purchase of major instruments (concert piano, prestige string instruments) to scholarship endowments to important capital improvements such as the addition of Petro Canada Hall. The School believes that it can offer numerous attractive benefaction opportunities for individual, corporate and foundation donors.
As we continue to grow we look to the continued support from our community. There are many areas that you can choose to support and at the level you feel is appropriate. If you would like to give to the School of Music, you can do so here and if you would like further information on giving to a specific project please contact the School’s Development Officer, Danny Hayward, at (709) 864-7539 or danielh@mun.ca.
