Getting Here

Being an island, there are only two way to get to Newfoundland – by sea or by air.

By Air

A number of airlines serve this destination: Air Canada (www.aircanada.com), WestJet (www.westjet.com), Continental Airlines(www.continental.com), Porter Airlines (www.flyporter.com) and Provincial Airlines (www.provincialairlines.com) currently offer scheduled passenger service year-round, and three charter airlines, Air Transat (www.airtransat.com), Sky Service (www.skyserviceairlines.com) and SunWing (www.sunwing.ca) offer seasonal services.

Note: It is very important to quote the St. John's airport destination code when making your reservations: YYT. It has been known for visitors to end up in Saint John, New Brunswick – not a happy mistake!

Find airlines flying into Newfoundland and Labrador.

By Sea

Marine Atlantic (www.marine-atlantic.ca) operates ferries between Newfoundland and Nova Scotia. There are two ports of entry in Newfoundland:

1. year round to Port aux Basque on the southwest part of the island, a four to six hour trip and an 11 hour drive across the island to St. John's, and

2. a summer service to Argentia, an 18 hour boat ride but only a 90 minute drive to St. John's.

Preferred travel agent and contact information, rental car information (hard to rent a car in St. John's in summer!), how to book excursions in St. John's and rest of province including Labrador.
