Sheila Penton
Mathematics Learning Instructor

Sheila Penton is from the small rural Newfoundland community of
Tilting, Fogo Island. Sheila, (nee Dwyer), is from a family with
over 200 years of combined teaching experience in the Newfoundland
education system. Sheila personally has 30 years of teaching
experience; one year in her hometown of Tilting, and the remaining
29 years at Holy Heart of Mary High School teaching all levels of
high school mathematics. Sheila joined the Mathematics Learning
Centre (MLC) in September 1999 and worked from 1999-2006 as an
Instructional Assistant in Math Foundation Courses (10XF) and Math
1090 and from 2006-present as a Mathematics Learning Instructor for
the same courses. Sheila has also been one of the instructors
responsible for all MLC courses instructed through Distance
Education since the Spring Semester of 2005. Sheila’s
interests include gardening, reading, sports and politics.
