Managing Content

The Content Section of Site Builder is where you make changes to the content on the pages on your site. Once you make changes, all data is saved within a database, and then published to the main Memorial web server.

Manage Content

Within this area of the Content section you will find a list of the pages on your site. You will also be able to create new pages, view, edit, move or delete existing ones and upload files to put on your pages.

There is a Current section actions area at the bottom of the page. It has two tabs, Create new page and Upload file from your computer. They are described below.

Creating New Page: To create a new page in Site Builder, click the Create new page tab, and then click the button that appears below it. See Create new pages for more information.

Uploading files: Site Builder offers an easy process for adding files to your site. You can upload any type of file, except .php files. First, click Upload File from your computer at the bottom of the Content page - a new text field will appear along with a button. Click Browse to browse the files on your computer and select the one that you want to upload. Once you have selected it, click "Ok" and the file's location will appear in the text field. Now click "Upload File from your computer" and the file will be uploaded to the section you are in.

See Upload files and Create new pages for more information.

Site Builder has a 40-character limit for file names. If your file name is longer than 40 characters, you will receive this error message:

File name error message

To correct this, re-name your file and upload it again.

Other Actions

Once files are created or uploaded, they can be moved and modified using the Actions listed next to them in the list of files.

Viewing Files: To view your page in its completed form, click "View"  magnifying glass next to the file’s name. A new window will open, showing your page. If you do this with more than once, the other pages will be opened in the same window.

Editing files: Once you have created a few pages you can go back and make changes. To do this, click "Edit" edit next to the file you wish to edit. This will take you to the "Edit Content" page. When you’re finshed adding content, click "Publish" and the changes will be implemented.

Deleting Files: To permanently delete a file from your website, click "Delete" trash can. Another method is to check the boxes to the left of the files you wish to delete and scroll to the bottom of the page. There you will find the option "Delete Selected" with a "Go" button next to it. After selecting all the files you want to delete, click "Go".

Moving Files: To move files to a different section, check the boxes to the left of their file names, and then scroll to the bottom of the page. There you will find the option"Move selected to" next to a dropdown list. Select the section you want to move the files to and click "Go".

Organize your files: The files on Site Builder are organized alphabetically by file name by default, but you can organize them in other ways. Above the list of files are the headings File Name, Title, and Modified. If you click on these, Site Builder will organize your files alphabetically or temporally based on the heading. (ex: If you want to see the most recently modified files at the top, click on Modified. They will now be listed in order of the date they were last modified.)

Quick View: When you have finished making changes, you can view your site using the quick-view button quick view icon. This button will open your main site up in a new window and will appear on every page in Site Builder, next to your site's title, and is meant to provide you with quick access to view changes to the overall site.
