Connecting with the Strategic Plan
Memorial’s Strategic Plan 2007-2012 outlines a growth strategy for the institution and is predicated on significant government support. Its execution requires significant government support and co-operation at all levels including:
- Provincial: Support for the goals of facilities expansion and student support (e.g. scholarships, fellowships, innovative student projects, etc.); continuation and growth of IRIP funding in support of research
- Federal: Growth in research support and funding, particularly that tied to graduate student involvement in keeping with the goal to increase grad student enrolment, expansion of Canada Research Chairs, and AIF and CFI funding
- Aboriginal: Greater co-operation and collaboration with aboriginal self-governments to identify and promote certificate and non-certificate education and training and research with particular emphasis on Labrador and points north
- Municipal: Fostering collaborative partnerships (e.g. The Works in St. John’s, the Pepsi Centre in Corner Brook), and further enhancing the town-gown connections with the communities in which the university’s operates and connecting Memorial’s senior leaders with leaders in communities throughout Newfoundland and Labrador
