Music Therapy in
Newfoundland and Labrador
Music therapy is the use of music and musical techniques to facilitate personal and communal growth and well being. It is a widely accepted and highly respected treatment modality in Canada today.
This seminar is presented in response to an increasing interest by health care professionals and the general public to include music therapy in comprehensive treatment plans, and in the role of everyday life for patients and persons with special needs.
The seminar will define music therapy through an
exploration of its theories, approaches and techniques. The
presenter will share her own work as a music therapist through the
presentation of studies, audio-visual material and
demonstrations.
Experiential exercises will provide further evidence of the
effectiveness of musical techniques in enhancing specific
areas of physical and cognitive functioning. Facilitator:

Jan. 26th session takes place in Petro Canada Hall, School of
Music.
Feb. 2nd session takes place in the Main Auditorium, School of
Medicine.
