What age does my child need to be?
Easter camp accepts children ages 5-8.
When does Easter camp run?
Monday through Friday, April 25 to April 29, 2011.
Where will Easter camp be held?
Kids@MUN Easter camp will be held at Pete’s Place in West Hatcher House, located on Livyer’s Loop on the Memorial University campus. Campers/parents may enter the building via the main entrance off the Square.
What are the drop-off and pick-up times?
Easter camp is a full day camp. Morning drop-off time is 8:30-9 a.m. and afternoon pick-up is 4:30-5 p.m.
Will my child be required to bring a snack and packed lunch?
Yes. As our camp is for the full day, campers should bring a healthy, balanced lunch including drinks suitable for an active day, plus any snacks for a morning and afternoon break. There are no refrigeration facilities at camp, so ice packs are recommended. Please note that Kids@MUN Easter camp is a peanut and seafood-free environment.
What type of clothing does my child need to bring?
Comfortable clothing and footwear is ideal (t-shirt, sneakers, etc). Activities will take place mostly indoors, however should weather permit, some activities may take place outdoors. Please ensure that you pack appropriate outdoor clothing and footwear each day (just in case).
What should my child NOT bring to camp?
Kids@MUN recommends that campers do not bring valuables such as electronic devices, Mp3 players, iPods, iPhones, cell phones, personal gaming devices/games (PSP, DS, DSi), etc. If it is essential for your child to have a cell phone, we require that the phone is handed to the camp counselor at the start of the camp day. The Division of Lifelong Learning and camp staff are not responsible for lost or stolen items.
What if my child loses something?
We cannot guarantee the return of lost property, but we ask that all clothing and bags are clearly labeled with your child’s name to help us return these items to you.
How many staff will supervise the children?
Our Kids@MUN Easter camp instructor-to-participant ratio is 1:10.
Are camp staff experienced?
We know that the key to running a successful camp is to employ great staff! We select our staff from a variety of backgrounds to ensure a balance of skills, experience, and qualifications for our camp environment. Staff will be qualified in, or studying towards, post-secondary degrees which may include education, childcare, or leisure. The Kids@MUN Coordinator who oversees Easter camp programming and who will be your main point of contact is a qualified and experienced primary/elementary educator. All staff are certified in First Aid/CPR and they also possess a current Certificate of Conduct.
How and where do I sign up?
Registration opens on March 15th and is available through our website or by calling the Division at 864-7979.
