Degree Credit Courses

Example:  Business 1000 - Introduction to Business

A degree credit course is:

• a unit of work,
• in a particular subject,
• normally extending through one semester or session,
• the completion of which normally carries credit toward the fulfilment of the requirements of certain degrees, diplomas or certificates*

* excluding Lifelong Learning certificates (e.g., Workplace Communications).

Certificate Credit Courses

Example: Criminology 3301 - Special Topics (Victims)

A number of the university's certificate programs include certificate credit courses as part of their requirements.

Certificate credit courses are specifically developed for areas of study, e.g., Criminology, for which no degree credit equivalency exists. As such, certificate credit courses are applicable only to the certificate program for which they have been developed. They are not applicable towards any other existing degree, diploma or certificate program.

Delivery Formats
Degree credit and certificate credit courses used towards affiliate and certificate program requirements, may be offered on-campus day and evenings as well via distance delivery. For availability of requirements in any semester, please consult the Office of the Registrar's course offerings link.
