Cisco Networking Academy Program
Program overview
This program provides a comprehensive overview of networking
from fundamentals to advanced applications and services to help you
prepare for IT professional careers and the CCNA (Cisco Certified
Network Associate) certification exam.
The program emphasizes theoretical concepts and practical
applications, while providing the hands-on labs needed to design,
install, operate, and maintain networks in small-to-medium
businesses, as well as enterprise and service provider
environments.
Completion of the program provides you with the basic and advanced networking competencies you need to sit the certification exam for Cisco's Certified Network Associate (CCNA) designation. Program graduates also receive a Certificate of Networking from the Division of Lifelong Learning.
Program requirements
The program consists of four courses:
Cisco Level 1: An Introduction to Networking
Topics include: network terminology, network protocols, local-area
networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), open system
interconnection (OSI) model, cabling, cabling tools, routers,
router programming, Ethernet,
Internet protocol (IP) addressing, and network standards.
Cisco Level 2: Router Configuration and
Management
Prerequisite: Cisco Level
1.
The course focuses on initial router configuration, Cisco IOS
Software management, routing protocol configuration, TCP/IP, VLSM
and CIDR. Participants will develop skills and will configure a
router, manage Cisco IOS software, configure routing protocol on
routers, and set the access lists to control the access to the
routers.
Cisco Level 3: LAN Switching and Wireless
Technologies
Prerequisite: Cisco Level 2.
Develop skills in troubleshooting common network problems,
interpret network diagrams, perform initial switch configuration,
configure, verify, and troubleshoot VLANs, manage IOS configuration
files, and identify the basic parameters to configure a wireless
network.
Cisco Level 4: Accessing the WAN
Prerequisite: Cisco Level 3.
This course covers various WAN topics such as the impact of
applications on a network, DHCP and DNS operations on a router,
access control lists (ACLs) in a networked environment, configuring
basic WAN serial connections with PPP and Frame Relay, and
