Academic Certificates

Certificate programs are frequently taken for the purposes of professional development, or by individuals interested in building the foundations for a career.

For those of you focusing on professional development, the programs build on the skills you currently possess by requiring you to qualify your assumptions—about your field and how you operate within it—relative to current best practices and theories. The programs also provide an excellent starting point for further university studies: degree credit courses completed through the certificate programs may be applied to diploma- and degree-study requirements. (Certain restrictions may apply.)

For those of you interested in laying the foundations for a career, the certificate programs provide a real-world introduction to the selected area's practices and theories. The programs can also be a valuable adjunct to a bachelors degree. If you're currently studying towards a degree, chances are, with the addition of a few extra courses, you can combine your bachelors degree with a timely, career-oriented certificate.

Certificate programs are short — between six and 10 courses — and accessible. Whether you are a full-time or part-time student, courses are often available on campus evenings and during the day, as well as via distance education.

Make certificate programs a part of your future!
