Exemptions
In general, you may receive up to three exemptions for equivalent course work completed through another program or at another institution. If you have previously obtained credit from Memorial for any of the courses on a certificate program, you are not required to repeat those courses.

Prerequisites
A prerequisite is a course that must be completed before registering in the course for which it is required. Prerequisites are normally enforced. It is the responsibility of the student to satisfy prerequisites or to apply to the appropriate department head for a waiver.
Methods of Instruction
On-Campus Courses
Available daytime and/or evenings (include 36 contact hours plus at-home assignments and readings.) Students should expect to study from three to six hours per week, per course, in addition to class hours.
Distance Education Courses
The university strives to offer as many certificate courses as possible in a distance education format. Distance education courses employ a variety of instructional media including print (e.g., course manual), homestudy videotapes and/or audiotapes, teleconference and audioconference sessions, as well as Web forums, electronic mail services and client software. The exact combination of instructional media used varies from course to course.
Note: The Division of Lifelong Learning cannot guarantee that all courses for a certificate program will be available in any given semester. Please consult the Division before beginning your program of studies.
